Healthy and Wealthy
There is a lot to be said for living a healthy lifestyle. Regular exercise, a good moderate diet and plenty of rest, fresh air and water are touted as the keys to living a long life and healthy life. Of course there will always be diet fads and exercise trends but we all know the basics to keeping healthy.
Did you know that you are more likely to be financially better off if you live a healthy life?
Here are the top 5 links between Health and Wealth:
1. Discipline – the top reason.
Being wise with money means exercising your self discipline every day. Greed and desire fuel our society, we want “things” all the time.
Be ready to make change in this area of your life and become strong to withstand the influences. You will find that just like regular exercise requires discipline and commitment, so too does your wealth.
2. Take Action
In financial matters if you don’t take action to build wealth, it just won’t happen. A plan without action is just a wish or hope. You need to decide what you are going to invest in and then make it happen! If we want to achieve weight loss we know we need to take action to move more and eat less each day until we reach our goal.
This carries on from the point above, if you decide you need help to lose weight, you might choose to join the gym or get a personal trainer. Why? Because you know you will be held accountable when you ask for help and pay someone to tell you to run, jump, move! The same can be said for your wealth. A financial planner can coach, mentor and guide you on your financial decisions and most importantly hold you accountable to your financial goals.
If you invest good food into your body, you feel better, are less likely to be ill or suffer unhealthy side affects. In a financial sense a BUDGET is your DIET. It tells you what is coming in and what is going out and whether that is balanced. Your budget needs to include a mix of needs, nice things and savings to give you a well-balanced financial life.
When we push ourselves a little we are often amazed at what we can achieve. Ever challenged yourself to run a marathon or even a friendly 10 km fun run? At first you are hardly able to make the distance but after a few weeks you are getting there and after a few months you can do it easily. You know where I am going here – the same habits financially help you build up to wealth. Getting wealthy is a marathon not a sprint so start out little by little.
Living a good life means different things to each one of us, but we mostly share the same top three priorities – our health, our family and our wealth. Why not try and build some healthy financial habits into your life.
