Our Top tips for Change in 2020

It is that time of year again, when we set resolutions and goals. If you really want to make a change in your life – be it personal or professional – you need to set goals and then make a plan on how to action these goals. If you keep doing what you have always done, you will keep getting the same old result.

We see common behavioural themes that can hold you back from achieving what YOU want. Here are some of our tips that may help you make 2020 different from previous years:

Let it Go

( I sing this line every time, do you? )

Humans hold on to stuff……. clothes, sporting equipment, toys, trinkets and not just artefacts, we hold on to emotions: anger, anxiety, grudges. Letting go can be the start of major change. Marie Kondo is famous for helping people de clutter their homes. So popular that she has become a verb, people state that they have “just Kondoed their cupboards” so let’s embrace this, externally (homes, cupboards, garages) and internally (our minds and emotions).

In my mind, I imagine a day when people will be saying they have just Amplified their finances!! Dream on? I will.

Comparing to Others

Another common issue that can cause you to come unstuck from your goals is comparing yourself to others. Social media is no help. Working hard towards your goals is something only you can do. Sharing your goals with trusted friends can help as they are likely to cheer you on or help keep you focussed but if you keep looking around at what others are doing you will lose your way because it’s not your path. Put the blinkers on, focus on your goals and your life. Be confident that what you have chosen to focus on is right for you.

Saying No

There is no denying it, I suck at this one. My husband calls me an over scheduler as I say yes to everything and everyone. It’s not possible to do all things and it leads to burn out. It causes you to lose focus as you become time poor and distracted. Start saying no to little things, it gets easier with practice. If you are like me, then you will need to remind yourself on a regular basis and this is why having a written plan that you review often really helps keep it all in perspective. I have scheduled my calendar to remind me monthly to REVIEW THE PLAN! Basic, but necessary for me. My goals are always top of mind, however it’s the action steps that I need reminders for.

I look forward to hearing about your goals for 2020. Prosperity and good health to you!
